      Doug Macdonald, CLIA, USGBC, LEED AP BD+C, has over 35 years of professional experience in the landscape and irrigation industries. He is currently a principal and vice president of Aqua Engineering, and manages the firm's Phoenix office and desert southwest clientele. Macdonald's expertise includes irrigation and on-site water storage facility design, alternative water source development, and LEED consulting services, with responsibilities including project management, master planning, conceptual design through construction documents, and construction observation services. He specializes in providing innovative solutions for large municipal and regional parks, sports and athletic fields, corporate campuses, and streetscapes. Macdonald has served as the national president, southwest chapter president, and northern California chapter president of the American Society of Irrigation Consultants. In 2015, he was honored with Fellow status by the ASIC. Macdonald also serves as chairperson for the Irrigation Association's Smart Water Application Technologies Technology Working Group, a national committee responsible for developing valid and repeatable testing protocols for a variety of irrigation equipment and technologies. Macdonald earned his bachelor's degree in environmental design from the University of Colorado-Boulder. He is also a member of U.S. Green Building Council and Sports Turf Managers Association.
