Learn about the practical tools cities are using to maintain parks and green spaces in the middle of drought and climate crisis. This session will discuss how to approach a water district or provider to discuss ways to work together to make sensible use of technology within a water-restricted environment. Attendees will learn about alternative approaches to financing smart irrigation investments and how to explain the advantages provided by an “as a service” model for budget-conscious organizations. The session will also include a discussion of the central role of smart irrigation technology in implementing a 360-degree holistic approach to landscape care: providing beautiful, functional landscapes without wasting water.

      Keith Schweiger, CLWM, CID, CIC, CLIA, CIT, QWEL, is the technical sales representative for Calsense for Colorado and Utah and was a board member of the Colorado WaterWise organization. Schweiger is a 1986 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Agricultural Engineering Department with an emphasis in soils and horticulture. He has spent numerous years in both distribution and contracting, totaling more than 35 years of experience in the irrigation industry. He has been an instructor for the Irrigation Association for over 17 years and has spoken and taught at many local and regional conferences on irrigation matters. He is past chair of the Irrigation Association Education Committee. Schweiger previously owned and operated his own irrigation contracting firm and is an EPA WaterSense Partner.
