      Mike Dorion - aka "The Compost Kid" - found his interest in the industry through a gardening class put on by the Calgary Horticulture Society. Following this class, he continued gaining experience by earning a permaculture design certificate and a compost facility operators certificate. Dorion has also been involved in SPIN farming, greenhouse design, and mentoring in soil and soil microbiology. He is currently working in a soil food web advisor role with the Life in the Soil program put on by Elaine Ingham, and he sits on the board of the Calgary Permaculture Guild.
